Question #7: How long do they stay in their first bowl where they were
The Kreisel system is needed for Reidi fry because they are born in a pelagic state where they are, for the most part, planktonic. They need to be kept in constant motion so they do not get stuck in the water surface. If they do, they die, simple as that. The kreisel system keeps them flowing and keeps them in contact with their food sources.
From time to time, after week two, I introduce a small (dime size) piece of rubble with a fake plant stem glued to it. I stop the motion in the kreisel for a few minutes to see if anyone hitches. ONCE They begin to hitch faitfully, I move them to the other grow out system.
Again, Erectus fry most often hitch soon after birth. The Kreisel stage is not really needed.
