    Default Lawnmower Blenny question

This is continued from another post because the topic was changed and I
wanted to make sure the people who know about Blenny's respond to it #ed_op#br#ed_cl#

Anyway, I have a small 20 gal tank with 3 Damsels 1 Cleaner Shrimp and
1 Fire Shrimp. The damsels are getting replaced shortly with a real
    fish #ed_op#br#ed_cl#

Anyway, I have red/green/brown algae forming on the live rock and
walls. From wha I have read here, lawnmower blenny's are the thing to
have! Unfortunately, I dont think there is enough algae created to
sustain it without actually feeding it manually. I have heard that
lawnmower blenny's dont eat hair algae (im assuming thats the stuff
that looks like grass) and refuse to eat anything else you try to feed
    it. Is this true?#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

I dont want to buy one only to have it die of starvation#ed_op#br#ed_cl#

Might get some pretty subjective responses.

Ours eats hair algae, the algae film on the glass, pellet and flake food. Basically anything we put in the tank he eats. He's especially fond of us anytime we introduce any new frags or rocks from another tank, any algae that migrates into the tank doesn't last a day. But he will not help with cyanobacteria, only time and reducing/eliminiating the nutirents it feeds on will deal with it.

But LMB's are just so personable, he greets us at the front of the tank, I wouldn't worry about the cleaner shrimp too much, ours get along quite well, the only time he sits still for more than 5 seconds at a time is when he's paying the 'car wash' a visit.

    Cool. Thanks for the info.
What type of pellet food do you give it? Once my frozen food is done for my shrimp (which are molting like there is no tomorrow... m gonna have lobsters soon!), i would like to use the same food for each critter if possible. It would cut down on the cost

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#My LMB "Froggy"-- eats any and everything I put into the tank-- he eats flakes, pellets, brineshrimp, squid . . . he heats algae off the glass, off the power heads, -- he loves new additions to the tank-- He is the oldest creature in my tank and I don't have any hair algae-- He loves to be cleaned by my cleaner shrimp-- He's a whole lot of fun-- I have never had a problem with him not eating.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

Right now for pellets we are using a product called VibraGrow.... we got it from a friend, all the fish and inverts really seem to like it. Wish I could tell you where to find it, but I have no idea. They get that and Prime Reef flakes almost daily.

LMB will eat pretty much anything you feed them. I've had several all named "Cuss" because they are such ugly cusses! The are very neat fish and I don't think ppl give them the credit they deserve! Great fish that can get pretty big so make sure when the algea is gone you feed him! Otherwise he'll starve to death!
I always loved wathing Cuss try to eat the nori while balancing himself on the clip! They Don't swim all that well so je wupid rush the thing and rip great hunks of it off
made for a messy tanks all that nori floating around but
I would recomend the LMB to anyone

This is a good thing. They are shedding because of all the good food the are getting. Back off on the amount of food and they will stiop at least for a while... Our ship shed about once a month or so

    Ok! The new additions are:#ed_op#br#ed_cl#
    #ed_op#br#ed_cl#
1 LMB (which seems to be eating... and nicknamed Jabba the hut cause he looks as ugly as him)#ed_op#br#ed_cl#
1 Blue Tang ... swims sideways and always jams itself under rocks.... I labeled it the "Rain Man" of fish#ed_op#br#ed_cl#
My 2 "show stealing" fire and cleaner shrimp#ed_op#br#ed_cl#
1 Angel Corel Beauty (a friend gave it to us) It's quite pretty and a
good size for the tank. Maybe I will add another, but I dont want to
overload the tank as it is.#ed_op#br#ed_cl#
    #ed_op#br#ed_cl#
Best thing of all, they all eat brine shrimp. Cant get any simpler! #ed_op#br#ed_cl#
