Sea hares are known for having a voracious appetite for algaes

I'm with DavidP, although I prefer the long-spined urchins, they are total eating machines, cleaning everything, including coraline right down to bare rock, where it rapidly covers again.

Is there a good site that shows good pics of nuisance algae to be able to identify what types of algae I have growing in my tank?

    Try here first: http://wetwebmedia.com/marinvind1.htm

Look at the FAQ's. There are algae ID sections.
