    Default Overfeeding/Underfeeding?

Just how much food (frozen cubes) are you suppose to put in your tank? I have one lemon peel, a brittle star, a coral banded shrimp, an emerald crab, and about 10 snails-- I have been feeding them about a quarter of a cube every other day-- I don't want to underfeed but I don't want to overfeed and cause an increase in nitrates and pH- I am just not really sure how much food is enough and how much is too much--

If you aren't seeing any ammo/nitrate jumps I'd say you should be okay. Been thinking about this one for a bit, if no really visable pieces of the food are making it to the bottom of the tank to settle, or at least not for more than a couple of minutes before being completely consumed you should be okay.

some people say that you should only feed what they can eat in the space of 3-5 min. I read an artical about over feeding that suggested, and it sounds cruel to me but, don't feed for a few days till your fish look a little skinny. Then slowly increase the amount untill they are fat and sassy again. When you get to that point STOP and feed that amount. Now I don't like the idea but to each there own I guess. I just can't stant the puppy-dog look you get when you don't feed! lol
    hope that helps!

i feed small anounts 2-3 times a day to the fish, mostly flake. When feeding frozen foods, its best to rinse them in freshwater before feeding, the juices they are packaged in provide lots of excess nutrients to your tank.

I feed 3 x's per week(1/2" square with the juice un-rinsed) of home made mush. I make a batch about once every year and freeze(anymore and the wife might get upset that I use her blender...)
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#As long as your fish are always hungry and don't look emaciated, you're feeding the right amount. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#KG#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
