Have you ever been laughed at by a Damsel as you try and catch him ..... That's what the 2 that are in the tank are doing to me !!!! I can HEAR em' !!!! Little hellions !!!!

Well I'm trying to catch these guys, and I am currently trying the "TRAP" with table shrimp in it.... If I were trying to catch clowns I'd have about 20 right now.

Do you guys have any expertise in getting these little guys or is it good luck sucker !

I just dug 6 of them out of my 125 gal tank. I had to involve my 10 yr old daughter to get the job done. Even with this it took 45 minutes. Yeah, they were laughing the whole time. The only thing that worked for me was to start from one end and do a sweep action and pin whatever I could. When I caught one of them I would slowly raise the net against the tank until I got to the top. If there was more than one fish and it wasn't what I was going for I would reach in and snatch out the damsel at this point. Good luck and happy fishing.

I did have to remove all rock all plant and all tubing. It really was a pain. Since I went to all the trouble I did my water change at the same time and did some scrubbing on my plants and cleaned along the bottom which needed to be done. At the end I added some stress coat for everyone cuz I was in the tank for so long and the net scares them all. The only other fish I have had this much trouble with is my regal tang. The damsels wouldn't be baited by fish or any other tricks to get them out of the tank. Since they are so small they also can get in between many more spaces than the net. The only other thing that has worked for me with some success is to take a small bowl (round like one for a beta) and try scooping it up. Sometimes they don't run from it like the net and if you can get them to go inside of it then they are caught. Hope this helps,

Have you tried a small amount of food in a net? First, put the net in the tank for a few days and don't touch it. Then start add the food near the net. Then, put the food in the net. They'll go for it.

yep.... had to remove all 150# of the rock.... Now for the oops part. One of the pieces of table shrimp I had in the trap fell out of the trap, and onto the sand. I think I actually ended up putting a piece of rock on top of the piece of shrimp, probably the size of a quarter.

What will this do to my ammonia ?

Probably not much since your system should have plenty of bacteria to consume it. It might be a different story if it was a large fish in an immature tank.
