Most of the screws are on the inside edges. I did have a DOH moment and put the screws on the side pieces on the outside, when I realized it, it was WAY to late to fix the error. Also, in looking at the corners, I will have to have screws on the outside, unless I go with dowel pins. (Which would add a lot of time.)
Sink the screwheads in below flush and put some wood putty in, preferably make your own with sawdust from cutting the cedar and a little bit of wood glue, then you know it'll be a perfect match to the wood and be stainable. You'll never see 'em.
I will be drilling the tank soon enough, I just have to decide where.
The stand is all put together, I decided I need an extra set of hands and arms, but they just didn't happen, so I have some sanding to do. Funny how all my measurements were less then a 1/16" tolerance, but I ended up with just over that on the "high" corner. According to my trusty steel square, I am good all around though, so that is a good thing.
I have a shorter work day tomorrow, hopefully I can get it sanded and stained and then in the house the day after. All the pieces are starting to fall into line, now I just need to find a few Benjamin's to spend...
I need to find some thin foam to sit the tank on, and I am thinking some trim to cover the black bottom of the tank. The plan also calls for a shelf on the bottom, and a shelf in the middle. What do you think about a matching back, to hide the pipes that are going to run from the tank bottom to the basement!?
