I am 99% sure I no the answer to this b4 I ask but it has been bothering me all day. When I woke up this morning I noticed one of my hermits had died. And he was one of the larger ones in the tank. Didn't think much about it at the time, had him for 3 years, figured he had a good life, scooped him out and went on. Got home tonight and decided to look and see who took his shell. I have 5 empty shells of various sizes and a bag full of others that I can change out if too many crabs get to the same size. Looked all over the tank, I still have 5 empty shells. I had done a water change last night and had just placed the bucket of old water in the garage and thrown the dead crab in there. Went out to look and it appears hollow. So the question is...do hermit crabs molt?
Thank you....figured they had too, but just found it strange that I have never found one in the past....probably only noticed this one because he is so big....thanks again.
