He ate Tuesday, quickly swallowing his food. I thought he might still be hungry, but I didn't want to overwhelm him after the stressful time he's had recently. I fed him again this morning, and Marlin stood guard, viciously chasing the shrimp away when they came looking for a meal. The nem still looked hungry (tentacles extended as if searching for more), so a couple of hours later I fed him again. He gobbled the food right up. Here it is still only a few hours after the second feeding, and he STILL looked hungry! I just gave him another bit of scallop. Again, he gobbled it up! He's a little pig!
My question is - do I feed him as much as he will take whenever he looks hungry? I don't want to overwhelm him, but I imagine he is starving after his "fast" over the last couple of weeks. Also, maybe I'm not feeding him enough ... the menu this week is bay scallops, and I've been giving him about 1/3 of one each time. Does this sound okay, or should I give him the whole thing? (He is a fair sized guy - about 8" in diameter when fully open)
Tracy, that is awesome to hear he is back to normal. I would feed every other day . if you over feed he will regurgitate the food and it will foul up the tank. I would stick to the every other day method and he will be fine. once again that is glad to hear. I am sure Marlin is relieved also
I don't want the nem yacking into the tank and making a mess or growing too fast, so I'll stick to feeding him every other day. He handled his triple feeding well yesterday- he kept all of it down. I really think he was so hungry he could've eaten a horse, lol!
After he ate (and stopped begging for more), he bubbled up nicely:
