Default Its a baby!!! ...anemone that is.

I woke up this morning and found that my rose bta had split during the night.Very cool. The mother colony had kind of been hiding for a week or so, and I was kind of worried but first thing I saw that one out of the hide hole and thought she had moved but low and behold there was still on in the hole. Hopefully this is a sign that she was fat and happy and not stressed (which is a another possible cause for the split). Both are about the size of a baseball. :D

No kidding. I'd love to see that too! My anemone is huge. I believe it's a Sebae! Nothing wants to host in it though. It has such a big mouth from me feeding it. I thought it was going to split, but it seemed like it stopped. Maybe it decided to stay whole so he gets all the food. lol

Here a picture of the mommy and baby. Baby is the one on the upper right. Mommy has been kind of shy and still hiding. Tonight was the first night she has been starting to peak out again. Before the split she was probably the size of a saucer. She would pretty much fill that whole area in the picture when stretched out.

#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Looks like a healthy little spec. Great color too. Here is a question? when they split, how fast does it happen???? Is it a matter of minutes or hours??#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#

I am not exactly sure but I would say hours. The anemone was hiding for a week before I actually saw two different anemones. The funny thing is that a week after the first split, the baby split again. So I now have three rose BTAs, small, medium and big. :D WHen the second one split it was up in the right front corner. I walked in one morning and saw the anemone all stretched apart. There was about 2" between the two main chunks. The flesh between them was kind of brown and shredded. I cam back in an half hour and they were farther apart with only a few strands left attached between them. When I got home for lunch they were 2 feet in the tank. All three seem to be doing great.
