    Default AptasisX on Maxi Minis?

    What say you all? I've done a little reading on how this stuff actually causes the Aptasis to implode when applied, and that some found it to be harmful to their fish.
    My only other recourse to keep then from being harmful is to force them into the holes they're anchored in and then cover the holes with putty.

    If it we're me I would use the kalkwasser paste or try a zapper. Either way a little at a time would be my route! With such a small tank you could do some serious damage if you do to much. Also you can buy allot of kalkwasser for what one bottle of aptasia x cost and it's just as effective. Just another .02 tho

    I don't think it's a good idea to kill them, especially while they're in the tank. My concerns are;
    1. the nutrient spike from decaying tissue,
    2. non-target impacts of the sheer quantity of "juice" necessary to kill them, and
    3. potential toxins released by the anemones as they die
    Plus why unnecessarily kill something (especially if you can get $ or store credit for it).

    I would opt for taking the whole rock(s) out and either selling or bringing it/them to your LFS for credit. I realize that this would be quite disruptive to your existing setup; however, it would be fairly easy to do when you're upgrading to a bigger tank (hint-hint, nudge-nudge ). When you're upgrading you'll probably be buying more LR so you could easily buy a little more to replace whatever is lost with the anemones. Additionally, waiting until the upgrade would also give you time to get frags of any desirable corals that are on the rock(s) you'd be getting rid of.

    Wait, your trying to kill something you can sell for $25.00? I'm confused? Are you talking about aptasia or the mini maxis?

    You can take the scape apart and remove the rocks anytime. It would be a good opportunity to do some deep cleaning and a large water change. Both of which I feel are good to do to a tank every couple of years.
