Default 16 Year Old Saltwater Tank

This tank has been going strong and has some to the oldest reef items that make it run. It has one of the first sump systems, a protein skimmer that works from a wooden air stone and the chamber has a drip system that drips one gallon of water an hour. It also has an internal fluidized bed filter. Also using a UV 18 water sterilizer.

No you don't, it's an oldy but it just keeps going and running strong. I have had to replace some things as they go out but other then that it's still a fun tank.

I was out of the hobby, for keeping up with the saltwater reef systems Jo but I still have some just fish only tanks. I did make a mistake the picture of the 135G is 29 years old and still going strong. It is the 300G that I had make in Canada that is 16 years old and that is a fish only tank also. The 180G tank that I am setting up now is going to be my first reef tank that I will have since 1986. So yes reef systems from what I am use to, it is like starting the hobby all over again. So many things have changed, even the books I have are out dated so I have been getting some new ones and trying to play catch up but there are so many new items out there I don't even know what some of them do so I have a lot of reading to do. I want everyone to know that this site has helped me so very much, out of all the reef sites that are on the web I feel that this site is the most informational and when you ask a question you don't get a smart _ _ _ , answer, so this is an aw some site and everyone out here in this site is great. Thanks everyone for being here and helping out an old salt.

Running for 29 years, means you've definately been doing something right! Looks good to me.

The tank works from a reverse flow under gravel filter and a sump, one of the first sump types made in the late 70's early 80's. Sub straight is oyster shell with sand and the sump has two rotting bars that lets water flow over two rolls of fiber some close to a cotton, with a water drip that passes one gallon of water an hour using a wooden air block that also works as a protein skimmer.
