I would just shade the whole thing. With the increased Parr value that the halides will be giving off it will make up for any loss for your existing T5's that would have be shaded. Corals with too...
Alright, I'm in after almost 3 years of being away.
Come on beginners luck!
If the rock is too hard to break maybe try a tile saw, they work wonders on fragging LPS.
Have you tried grape Kool aide to your tank water? Works for me.
Linkia in general do not last very long in captivity.

Instead of a wood chisel, get yourself a brick chisel, cutting board and a big hammer and bust up that rock!
Don't be shy, pound away till you are happy with the results.
Trusting suction cups to hold your powerhead is always risky. Seems like they always fall off after time. I have used the Algae Free magnets and were very happy with them.
Well after thinking about things a bit I may try and replace the pump on the existing skimmer with a needle wheel style pump and see what happens. More than likely going to get an Ocean Runner 2700...

Does anyone out there have any experience with DT's Oyster Eggs?
My GSP grow like crazy. Do not "peel" them from the rock. What I have dome is I just set the polyps down next to some other rock and they encrust the rocks over a short period of time (maybe a...
Agreed, if you do doing regular water changes some people can get away without adding any trace elements to their tank. It all depends on that and your inhabitants. Maybe also depends on the salt mix...
Looking to replace my just o.k. protein skimmer that came with my sump.
I was looking at the following skimmers:
Berlin Turbo Classic
Coralife Super Skimmer Needle Wheel Protein Skimmer (new)
I...
I have a prop tank set up with a 29 gallon tank. I have P.C. lighting, a 330 GPM hang on back filter, a protein skimmer and some live rock and the tank has been doing well for the time I have had it...
