Where did you fid deals like those???
Does water always taste like salt and poo????
Looks like a Pachyseris sp.,thats a pretty coral you got there, nice find.
Bobby, does the first coral have similiar features as the top on the underside of it?
hey Tyler, long time no see buddy. the first pic is commonly called an Elephant skin coral. i thought it was SWEET at the LFS and had them bag it for me. when it gets big enough i'll save you a frag if you like it.
jojo22, i just keep my eyes and ears open, j/k ... some LFS's call me when they order or FIND something cool in thier shipments. the Elephant skin coral was found in a shipment and fragged at the store 5 days before i picked it up. it was on hold so noone took it.
David, on the bottom you can see the design but it is not nearly as rigid as the top is. i found this on a google search before i bought it ...
Description
Pachyseris colonies in general form a consistent, almost geometrical pattern of scrolls and waves. Coloration ranges from tan to green. Yet there are other Specie of Pachyseris that have profound coloration/shape.
Pachyseris gemmae
Colonies with numerous irregular folds. A rarer specie of Pachyseris
Pachyseris speciosa
One sided colony faces, with regular ridging. (Most common member of the genus.(
Pachyseris rugosa
Upright, irregular growth. Plates growing together. Columellae as wall-like lobes. Massive sometimes in shallow water to upright blades in deeper, calmer waters. Aquarium images.
i think mine is the first one because of the irregular folds !!
Bobby,
I would gladly purchase a frag of that once it grows out. That is a very unique looking coral, I have never seen anything like it.
Keep me in mind down the road! Thanks, Tyler

Then its unifacial,I was asking so i could rule out another possible genus that it could be.Yours seems to fit the chararcteristics of Pachyseris speciosa.
P.speciosa- "Colonies are unifacial laminae, usually horizontal, but may develop upright ridges or columns. They commonly form stands several metres across. More than one row of corallites may occur between ridges. Columellae are absent."
David, what do you know about these corals ... or should i ask a SPS guy ??
Bobby you need to send that to me i believe it will look better in my tank lol
