    Default Patience and a Montipora

    Okay I couldn't resist posting these pics ... well because they are cool... Monti's are probably my favorite coral of all...

    The first pic was taken on Dec 29, the second a couple days ago (so about 45 days)
    From fading out quick to happy and rediculous growth rates, most of which have been in the last 3 weeks. He's living in my nano right now so any water parameter variations are seen quickly, alkalinty is being consumed very rapidly!

    Thanks for the kind words... I'm pleased. BTW that chunk missing on the left side was not fragged... the sides of that area just grew faster. Although I did think about it...

    The slimer - a goner.... didn't realize it at the time but had signs of RTN when I bought it.... within a few weeks he was gone

    The other frags I intentionally put in there are;
    Candycane/trumpets, started with 2-3 heads, they are now 6-8 and splitting again.
    The superman zoanthids, started with 4 polyps, there are at least 10 on that plug now and more coming.
    Pink xenia are starting to make a comeback from meltdown.
    The fox coral frag is doing great.
    The pagoda cup, can't call that thing a frag, about 6" across, but she's one happy camper.

    Inadvertant corals, a purple mushroom hitchhiked its way in... and what started as a few lone polyps of GSP's is now a 1.5" patch. (these guys will get moved to another tank after a while).

    Can't forget the lovely aptasia that seems to have appeared from nowhere, got half a dozen that I need to nuke this weekend when I clean the tank.

    Should have an itty bitty baby long spine urchin coming sometime next week to take care of my algae growth.

    Default Montipora update

    While I was trying to get some clean tank pics tonight I did manage to get a decent one of the Montipora Capricornis that I have been tracking growth on, figured I'd share the results thus far. Notice the new mirror finish background, lets you see the rest of the coral hidden behind. One happy lil' camper.
