Default Well, I got the AEFWs :)

So I can finally confirmed that I have AEFWs in my reef tank. I have not added anything for many many months so I am kind of confused. I guess they just got to the point were I finally noticed them. So now comes the fun task of dipping all my acros. Oh and FYI they also go after Montipora Capricornis (some people think they just go after acros)

Sound like you may have nudis and flatworms. Take a look at Prazi Pro. I would be reluctant to use it as an in tank treatment but others have with good success.

Just got done dipping all the acros. I used Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure and it worked well removing all the adult flatworms. I got rid of as many eggs as I could find. Ill probably go back and dip in a week or so.

Please do consider the Prazipro. I also used the TMPCC and while it did stun them not all would come off. Andy refered me to the Prazipro and I tried that and it kills them outright. After a couple of dips a week apart and checking and scraping off eggs I believe I have rid myself of the critters.

    Good luck.......chuck

It is a good idea to get a spotted mandarin and 6 line wrasse or corris wrasse as they may also help eat these pests. I found aefw in my frag tank about a year ago and went throught the dipping and treatments...tmpcc will stun them so you can blast them off with a turkey baster, but will not kill them or the eggs. Prazi pro I couldn't tell what it did...because I used it last and ended up just tossing everything out of my frag tank before knowing if they were clean or not. good luck!...

TMPCC is basically just a weak Iodine solution. It will stun FWs but that is about it. Prazipro is a FW medication used to eliminate FWs in fish. I have used it as a dip for some time now. I have mixed it very strong (much stronger than recommended dosage for fish) and it will actually dissolve the FWs. Kills them immediately. I haven't killed a coral with it yet. I have talked with several reefers using iodine to try to combat these pests. I have also read many threads on the subject. It seems that the iodine method is somewhat akin to chasing your tail. It can also be very harsh on your corals.
