    Default Gotcha!!!

I was feeding the fish tonight and doing my standard tank stare when I saw this unfold. I looked over and one of my frilly mushrooms is closing up and then I notice a pod scurrying around inside on the mushroom. 7 By the time I ran and got the camera the shroom was pretty closed up (first picture). It only took few minutes for him totally close up (second) tight. About 20 minutes later he was relaxing again feeling fat and happy. I have seen them do that before but never knew why. I really like the first pic because the mushroom is almost translucent. Just thought I would share. :D

We've got a couple that do the same thing, except they do it on command.... well sorta, we discovered they have a ravenous appetite for brine shrimp. It's really cool to watch them fold up like that then they are open for business again.

Mostly brine shrimp and occasionally we'll cut up silversides into little pieces (about 3/16-1/4") pieces. They love it, same for most everything else in the tank that will eat meaty foods, even my yellow polyps.

We direct feed anything that likes it just for fun! We generally wind up around the tank as a famiily (instead of the tv!) and watch these wonders all take in their food. We started doing it just to see who ate what. Now it's become a routine treat for them, and they know their treat day and time because they have their tentacles out and ready when it's time for us to do our thing! They make sure they remind us! All the creatures that hide come out of the shadows to and start out the glass at us, so we don't forget to easily that's for sure!

My family spends quite a bit of time gathered around the tank. My 18 month old daughter loves to help me feed the fish. She loves to see them all zip around scarfing up the food. Always makes me smile. A big event at our house. " Daddy, Daddy, bite, bite, ish, ish" as she likes to say. :-D :-D .
