What can I keep?

I have 2xSuper Actinic110(blue), 2x Actinic white 110 VHOS . We have a 65gal.,18inch deep,48long. I know I can keep softies. But can can is there enough light for LPS or SPS? There would be 8 watts per gal. right?

IMO, you can keep just about any coral under that lighting, however, there will be placement issues. BTW, the lighting issue is just a small part of what it takes for a successful reef.

Yes, I agree. I have had a FOWL tank successfully. I have done LOTS of reading and asking questions on coral care. However SO many different opinions on lighting. And yes placement is very important. I just would like to get some softies to start and then some LSP. But I was not sure on SPS. They would have to be placed higher in the tank I would think. But I do not want to get any coral I would have to direct feed every polyp(have 6 kids to feed)

IMO you should easily be able to keep most LPS types like frogspwn, hammers, bubble coral, most monti's should do well under that lighting. Softies like zoanthids, any leathers, should do very well. SPS may be a bit more challenging as they may kept and survive, however may not thrive. Turnover/overall flow in the tank should be kept as high as possible that will be critical with the coming additions.

I did it on my 55 with 4 55 watt pc's for 3 years and had everything from shrooms, leathers, zoas, montipora digitata, acropora valida, and even a maxima clam... all faired very well, but honestly the clam and sps does like the halides much better. Over the last year and a half, I've added 2 175 watt 10k MH and 1 250 watt MH(with the 175's to be upgraded to 250's next week).

I'm probably gonna stick with the XM's... for the system I'm getting, XM's rate a bit higher than the iwasaki's in PAR and are less yellow... besides< I get the bulbs wholesale.
