    Default Leather & Epoxy

Can I use an underwater epoxy to hold my leather frag on its rock? My goofy oaf of a turbo snail has knocked him over a few times already, but this last time the fishing line that was holding him on came loose and it ripped him off his little rock (where he was already attaching fairly well). :smt013

Anyway, I've heard of people using epoxy for stony corals, but I wasn't sure about the leather...

The only luck we've had using epoxy with any soft coral was to work the epoxy up into a hollow cone shape (like a volcano or something) and securing the frag in it's own little hole. Though drilling a whole in a piece of rubble would be a lot less messy, pop a hole in there and plug the frag in... it'll attach in a couple days.

Thanks! That's a good idea; I'll keep it in mind for the future. I don't think it would work for me with this guy. The leather is almost as big as his rock. I couldn't drill a hole big enough to stick him in there without destryoing the rock. I want to keep him on this one to make it easier to place him when I upgrade my tank. Any other ideas for me?

Have you tried spearing him with a plastic toothpick and using a rubberband over the ends to hold him the place you want?
