xenia sulking.....

just got a small frag of xenia today....

when it was at the shop (and in the bag on the way home), it was really "happy" and all "out".....

well I put it in my tank (it was sulking because I had to remove it from the little rock it was on) but it has been there all afternoon and still not very happy.....

I watch it and the polups seem just about to open and then *bang*...they pull back down tight......start to open again....*bang*......

do these guys like bright/low light? high/low flow? I'm trying to figure out if the frag is just p*ssed off or if something isn't right......

my vote goes for p*ssed. Xenia is a tricky coral for some people, tell us more tomorrow, it might just be in shock.

I wouldnt worry if I were you mine was in shock for a bit, about 24 hours after then it was back to normal. It closes and opens throughout the day, also when my snails + hermit crabs bugs it, they close too. I have mine on the bottom away from the lights with above average flow, and they seem to like it, they already split once.

well I got up this morning and it is GONE!!!!!

I guess I didn't get it held down very well (though it was there all afternoon yesterday...).......

oh well......hope it turns up.....

Man you really did tick it off, it ran away from home! Actually, no I'm sorry is floated off on ya', make sure to look around the rocks and stuff, you just might find it! Good luck. -DIRT

My xenia grow like crazy one day, then the next they quit pulsing and shrivel up . One day later they are doing great,I don't understand what they do. My leather coral is the same way 1 day it is huge 2 days later it is 1/2 the size it used to be.

the pistol shrimp caused a major rock to roll last night (undermined it enough) and when it did, it opened up a "cave"....thus....I found where my Xenia had been swept off to....

I put it back on a rock in the morning and it seems to be "happy" for now.....though the "arms" are really really thin.......

so where do these guys like to be? do they like lots of light? how about flow?

I have mine under lite light, and moderate flow.
