I'm still conducting some more experiments with ballast/bulb combinations here, next on the list is to see if a magnetic M138 (pulse start( ballast will effectively fire a DE bulb. The M138 ballasts are falling out of favor as pulse start SE halides are both expensive and harder to find as late. They may be a cheap alternative to the expenseive M80 Bluewave, PFO, ARO, IC type ballasts for us DIY'rs looking for a cheap route to moving to DE's bulbs without spending a small fortune on new ballasts to fire them,.
Soooo.... if you've recently repalced any known working 250w DE bulbs and have them collecting dust and want to donate them to my mad scientist lab experiments LMK. Done a lot of research on then and the specs suggest they will likely fire right up, or all the smoke will fall out.... LOL
