Default Wanted: Help with rescaping a tank

I'm looking to rescape my 75g display in Oct or Nov, and I'd like to have someone help me out so that I can get it done as quickly as possible with as little stress as possible to the animals. I have ordered new base rock, and hopefully that will be available soon. I will work on the design ahead of time, so this can go quickly.

The only reason I'm even doing this to begin with is to catch 2 gorilla crabs..one is quite large and the other is pretty small. Both are damaging the tank right now... the big one has been caught red-clawed with a firefish. I decided if I was going to have to tear the tank apart, I might as well go ahead and rescape it in the process.

For your trouble, I'll make sure to feed you an awesome meal and provide you with all the beer/beverages you can safely drink and drive. I will even provide an extra 6-pack for when you get home.

I live on the East side of Michigan in Grosse Pointe Woods -- very near 8 mile and I-94.

    Thanks!
    Becky

Have you tried trapping the crabs? I had to remove some sallys once, set a trap and caught four crabs in about six hours... Funny thing is, I only knew about THREE of the crabs in that tank.

Crab trap = 20 oz plastic water bottle bisected. Top gets turned over and stuck in the body. Throw something meaty down the "funnel" and set it by some rockwork, so crabs can climb in. Crab crawls down the funnel top, and gets stuck in the bottom...

    Hey All!
dlhirst: I have tried to trap Big Brutus. As Miz said, a 2 liter bottle is more like it... he is HUGE! In general, the tank needs to be rescaped, crab or no crab. I like the way it looks, but i need more places to put corals. I definitely need some more shade areas for my low light corals.

binfords: Thanks for the offer of assistance!! This week, I have family coming into town...so that's out. I haven't had a call yet that my rock is in yet either.... I need to be bugging about that. How about a weekend in early December? You pick a day and I'll make it work!

Well, a trap is a trap. You could use a two liter, but you'd need to cut the threading off at least. Sounds like you need more than just critter control now. So moot point this time.
