Default 1st Annual Captive Reefing Zoa/Coral-Trade-a-Thon

    1st Annual Captive Reefing Zoa/Coral-Trade-a-Thon

I am pleased to announce the start of the 1st Annual Spring Captive Reefing Zoa/Coral-Trade-a-Thon. Many of our members have participated in similar swaps on other forums and are excited to get our event started, so let me explain the basic idea and some of the high points.

The Zoa/Coral-Trade-a-Thon is a giant low-cost frag swap. Each person who signs up will be randomly paired with another member to trade a frag with. Folks interested in trading more than one frag will have their name in the hat multiple times. The frags are typically shipped via United States Postal Service Priority Mail, which usually runs about $5-8 for a small package. Since Priority mail normally takes about 2-3 days, only rough and tumble corals, such as zoanthids, mushrooms, and polyps, are normally traded. There is no guarantee that the frag will survive the trip (most do) but for only $8 you have the potential of getting some awesome looking frags for a low price.

Starting now, I will be compiling a list of folks interested in participating in the Trade-a-Thon. Please post your name and the number of frags you are interested in trading. Please DO NOT state what you are trading on the post (see below). On April 12, I will announce the result of trading partner match-up. At that point, it is up to you and your trading partner to coordinate the trading of your frags. Please keep in mind things like outside temperature and day of the week. You don

Well... I may bring a few zoas, but it depends on how I'm feeling before I shoot down to Salt Lake... I'm scheduled for a dentist appointment.
