    Default fragging zoa's paranoia

ok so my week has been frustrating and its only tuesday. today I came home from work and to be nice I thought I would cook dinner so my wife didn't have to. I made a big pot of spagetti sauce and let it simmer. I looked at my tank and noticed my new fighting conch upside down. so I flipped him back over and decided to frag my zoas while I was already wet. I put my surgicle gloves on and went about peeling the zoa's off the rock and glueing them on disc's. all went well and I started cleaning up, when the sauce started boiling. out of instinct I pulled the lid and stirred, realizing I still had my water filled gloves on! I dont think any thing went in but I didn't want to chance it, so I pitched it and went to the store to buy more supplies. was I being to paranoid? anyway enough rambling I just had to vent.

Nope, you made the right move, a jar of sauce (or even homemade) is not worth the chance, you may have just saved yourself and your wife. Wait a minute can you send that sauce down here??? LOL!!

I would have done the same. I am super paranoid about putting my hands in the tank, let alone fragging.

For sure- its better safe than sorry. I would have done the same.

After saying that- I think (but dont quote me) any bacteria should be killed in boiling sauce over 165 degrees for over 3 minutes. At least thats the case with most common food born bacterias, including fresh sea food and including moluscs.

As far as the toxin???? I doubt anyone knows this answer, and if they do, I am interested in hearing it!!

You are correct. Foods cooked to 165 for 3 minutes are safe.
I probably would have thrown it away also but I would bet it would have been fine. Maybe a little salty though.
