lol just this weekend i was drilling holes in my rock work for frag plugs to fit into. i finally finished and everything looked perfect but during clean up i found my frag of lava chalice still out of the tank waiting for the glue to settle lol. it had to of been out of the water for about 2-3 hours and was completely dried out. well i ended up spending another 30 minutes arranging my rock to make it fit. lucky for me it came back and has had no recession at all and that was on saturday.
ive actually glued the polyps of a zoa shut before and it actually sprung back to life after about a week or 2. i actually still have the frag it is in my mantis tank lol. one of my first zoa fragging experiences gone bad lol.
I just watched a video on youtube last night from Planet Coral about fragging different corals, And the teacher was saying that a lot of common aquarium corals can stay out of the water for hours on end, just like they have to survive when the tide rolls out. He was also talking about coral farmers in the far east shipping corals in wet newspaper for days on end.
Here I sweat it after about 30 seconds of handling them that I am hurting them.
Oh yeah, I just went and bought 8 more coral frags this morning, I was so excited to get home, kind of like a young boy at Christmas !!!!!!!!!
I bought a large sheet of bright green star polyps, no matter how much I dried it and the rock, I had way more glue on my hands than on the coral . Would not stick good.

yeah they can stay out for a while but then they are back in the ocean which is near perfect environment for them, our tanks however are not so they usually do not last as long if they are out for more than a couple hours.
anyway tip for green star polyps i put some aquamend on the rock i wanted to stick them to and put super glue gel on that and pressed it against it, then i took some toothpicks and poked them in sideways (not perpendicular) to then that way it held it down to it better and within a week it was already grown down to the rock and i removed the toothpicks
