I started my first reef tank in 1991. I clearly remember buying "sea mat" for $45-50 for a big rock. Kinda ugly brownish yellow. I remember gas costing $1.25 a gallon as well. Wasn't exactly a reefing utopia back then though. When exactly did this reefing utopia exist?

I asked you several questions about your proposed solutions and you ignored them. If your suggestions stand up to scrutiny then I would think you would find them worth defending. After all you are starting a revolution!

If you had given me a reason to answer you by giving a legitimate reason behind the price gouging (not supply and demand or aquaculture/mariculture) i would have posted a responce...

Yes but some people can grow corals and enjoy doing so. If I wanted an instant reef I would hang a picture on my wall.

If you have been in this hobby since 1991, then i cannot fathom how you could justify insane coral prices. Unless you are a price gouger yourself....

In schminksbros defence- I must add-

His coral prices, and size, in my experience, are very fair.

Bro, if you had a 500 gallon tank (for the sake of this example), colonies are your frags.... 2 polyp zoanthid frags and 1 inch acro frags arent going to cut it.

I have a question. Why are corals such as montipora caps, seritapora, acropora yongei, ect... dirt cheap?

If you can afford a 500 gallon tank and the costs of running it then the price of corals is the least of your worries. Colonies are still available. I can go to my lfs any day of the week and buy them.

They arent when you attach a fancy name, and call them LE... The price is 10 fold.

If you can't afford to stock your tank maybe you have too much tank. Why aren't you complaining about angels that cost a minimum of $50 but are $2 on a trans shipper list?
