I'm not sure what the filter media is but I would probably start by removing it.

I've been seeing a slow decline in my zoas over the last year as well. Huge colonies are now just a few polyps here and there. After some research I'm about to embark on a Vit C experiment to "C" what comes of it. May not help but I'm willing to try. I'll start a thread to document my efforts.
