Question Beware of used Korolia 2 and 3's

    Good morn'n all,

I was looking for a fish grid for my Koralia 2 pump when I came across the information following. I bought my equipment used and will check my pump numbers when I do a water change later today. I have no clue if the replacement policy is still in place but I thought it interesting information for my fellow reefers and reefettes. Note the thread is from 2007.

    Koralia Recall

Taken from: http://www.aquariacentral.com/forums...d.php?t=108711, dated May of 2007

Yes the 2's and 3's were recalled in late february / early march. But the recall ended the first week of April as new models were available. The new versions also feature a ceramic shaft. My guess is your LFS is just slow in getting new stock in. Try ordering online.

The problem with them was the casing around the motor not being up to spec and there were incidents where the casing would fail and leak current into the water.

In case anyone's wondering, I found this today...

"I emailed hydor and this is what they sent me about the koralia pumps:
Because not every Koralia #2 and #3 were effected, we did not consider this an all out recall. If you check the label on your pump there is a 3 digit number on it. If it is 713, then you are OK. If it is 649 or 704, it could be effected by the defect. If it is, we will be happy to replace it for you. Please send it to the following address with your name, address and phone number so we know where to send the new one.
