#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#This is great advise. I did the same thing you did after setting up my tank. I thought I would be OK because the system I bought was all up and running, all I did was move it to my house. But with the addition of new substrate, and mostly all new water, the cycle was not complete (or even started really yet). That, and I didn't quarentine all of the new critters that I had bought and almost lost all of my new fish to a pretty bad Ich infestation. And with the tank not completing its cylcling yet.............well, still trying to recover from an almost total livestock crash. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#The only treatment for the impatience thing is to do just what we did, I'm out a good chunk of change for all the fish I lost. Whats wrong with the tank now! My wallet is empty!

Woden, I have to agree with you about the hard lessons we've probably all learned. The whole Reefing process is amazing. I learned that from watching the process of our first tank being cycled. There's some great miracles that happen when you cycle a tank if you watch it closely. You can really hold on to your patience if you watch everything happeng in your new setup. It really gives you a taste of the excitement that your reef is going to bring you as you watch along the way! The first time I saw a pod during cycling, I was amazed! Now today I am still amazed when I re-scape the tank and find new things that we didn't put in there.
Reef tanks really hold more than water. They have little surprises waiting for you to discover them. Some are cool, and then some are not so cool.....but it's all there to amaze you as you watch it grow. Enjoy all aspects and you'll find that taking the time and patience to follow your tanks progress pays off everytime you find something new waiting for you!
Have a Wonderful Day on the Reef!

thought I would update to this thread and give you guys a progress report. After my uncured rock experiment(fiasco) I have finally, with patience and a lot of work gotten the tank to go through a LARGE cycle. lol with the last water changes I did everything finally settled out and all the tests came back "clean". Finally! I plan to add two mushroom frags and I have the LFS looking for some blue swirl and blue bomber zoaanthids. I also have purchased a beautiful coral beauty and a foxface. (all of the livestock has been living at the LFS since I bought it waiting for the tank to cycle out.) There is only one LFS in my area that does any marine stuff and MAN on Tuesdays when the order comes in it is dog eat dog up there! lol Anyway, just wanted to bump this thread for any new people to keep them from making some of my mistakes and also to tell them that there is always hope.......even when you screw up! lol

Glad things are finally working themselves out for you, amazing how fast things can take a bad turn for the worst huh? Bet that's one experiment you'll never want to repeat.

Thanks for the update and keep us posted on your progress. It's too early to look anything up, but where is Durant? I spent 7 years in the Marlow/Ft. Sill area a little while back, had a few LFS in the area, but nothing for SW unless you went to OKC or Texas.

I 'spose I should update that pic a bit... now she has a pair big ol' smoke stacks that grew out of the bed. Love throwing coal soot at the sky

Crappy pic of my '01, needs a bath something fierce but I won't trade her for the world.
