    Default Missing Cleaner Shrimp

    Hello,

About 2 days ago I purchased a Skunk Cleaner shrimp, brought him home and acclimated him in his bag for 2 hours, adding a half cup of tank water every 15-20 minutes.

Dropped him in the tank and he chilled on a rock for a little while and then disappeared under the rocks. That was the last I saw of him.

I went out last night at about midnight with my red flashlight, saw my hermits and my banded coral shrimp wandering about, but no cleaner shrimp. I fear the worse for him =(

Is there a chance he is just hiding for a couple of days molting? I hope he's still alive, any chance my banded coral shrimp tore him to pieces?

I guess time will tell, just curious as to what happened to him

idk think the banded coral shrimp are very compatible with other shrimp. I am a newb but just my 2 cents.

CBS are compatible with some and not others I just don't know which. The LFS did however tell me that they would eat my regular cleaner. Hopefully someone who knows shrimp will chime in.
Does water always taste like salt and poo????

A banded coral shrimp is going to be a very opportunistic feeder. if it is possible for the CBS to catch and eat the cleaner than I fear that may be what happened. but on a lighter note. a cleaner shrimp will hide for a couple of days until he gets used to his tank. I would keep an eye out. I have 4 peppermint shrimp in my tank I have had them for over 5 months. I have not seen them for 4 months. I reaquascaped my tanks a few days ago and low and behold I found all 4 of them. shrimp for the most part are VERY reclusive animals. but the cleaner is probably the "bravest" of the shrimp I have kept. keep your fingers crossed and a sharp eye out.

I guess this isn't the thread I just posted in about my mean CBS. Two nights ago my WOUNDED CBS ate a very large pep. They lived together for close to a year and the CBS just up and ate him. Greg couldn't find the camera. Two nights before that I caught him with a vibex! I do have a picture of that here somewhere. The last few months he has become very mean and we may end up removing him if he doesn't chill in the 100 gallon.
