This past sunday I had a bit of free time and built the rack for my 90 gallon. I also decided to spend some time on the 55 and give it a bit of a cleaning, the overflow was overgrown with what looked like hair algea, it was a deep green, and only grew in the over flow, I removed it thinking it was limiting flow (which it was). Well it was a bit of a mistake in my part, after removing it I did not realize how much nutrients they were exporting and the next day I had a cyano explosion, Im mainly getting it on my sand, and Ive been aiming my power heads near the bottom, my plan of action is to upgrade my pump on the tank and install a manifold. I'll try to have pics up soon, but just a heads up for some people.
PS: I have a fuge with cheato, but I guess it is not absorbing the nutrients fast enough, maybe people would like to consider growing some hair algea in their fuge as well, considering how thick it is, I think it would be a great nutrient exporter.
PSS: Should I start up the skimmer again to try to solve my cyano problem, I usually run it only a few times a month.
