Here's a picture of my greenwater. this is my first time useing greenwater so I don't know if I have too much, or too little rotigreen in the water. Any tips is appriciated.


the first night of hatching only two fry hatched out. on the second night there were about 50 or 60 swimming around. there were some eggs that turned white and died and there were still some that were clear and looked normal so i left the rock in the tank for another night. the third night the rest of the clear eggs hatched and were fine. i removed the rock with the dead eggs this morning. i really can't count the fry to see how many there are exactly, but i'm guessing around 80.

So when are all these pictures from? Is this the first hatch you've set out to collect? How did you get 'em out of the tank?

BTW, to answer your greenwater question - if the babies are collecting on the sides or bottom, you probably need to tint the water more. I'm guessing you're maybe a touch on the light side based solely on what I can see in the picture.

The pictures are from the current hatch. This is the second batch I tried to raise. The first batch only 5 hatched and didn't make it past day 3.
I was able to easily take the rock with the eggs out of the display tank and transport them home to my larval tank on Thursday. Two hatched that night. The eggs usually hatch 8 days post deposit, which was Friday, so I was surprised to see the two Friday morning. half of the rest remaining hatched Friday night and the other half Saturday night.
All the Fry are swimming around near the middle of the tank and the top.
So far everything is going great.

I agree with Matt on this. It's my belief that getting it right is more of an art than a science. At least for me. Ideally, you don't want to be able to see the bottom of the tank while looking down.

Babies are 6 days old. I harvested my rotifers on Tuesday and brought them to work with me and used them for coral food. With the water I used to refill my culture bucket my son had dropped his sippy cup into it. I thought nothing of it. I accidentally left my small bottle of Rotigrow+ out on the counter while I was at work. I assumed it would still be ok to use it maybe just not so much. Well I went to feed the babies this morning and there is hardly any rotifers in my bucket and it stinks. My culture crashed. So my fish fry have been taken off rotifers earlier than I wanted and are being fed Otohime A. They seemed to take right to it this morning.
