Easy fix , and I'm sure I know what store to. Just build a clear mesh top from brs and screening materials. Allows for venting and keeps your fish in too

Yes, I have seen Jim's screens... That might be the way I have to go on this. We need somethng new in the tank. I can build a screen with scrap pieces of acrylic and mesh. I only have to cover up about 37"L x 6"D. I can use the same mesh that keeps the herons out of my "backyard fishtank".
Thanks guys/gals!
i have some black netting mesh if you want me to drop it off at your shop Don. your on my way home from work. it has the 3/8 x 3/8 squares. doesnt cut down the light. PM me if interested
mine mostly hangs out mid to lower areas, i have seen some that like to be near the surface. cant say anything 100% here, but food for thought while picking one out.

That would be awesome "Ms. Flynnstone". I was looking at my water garden mesh and its probably bigger than the fish would be. 3/8" sounds right...
I have a green adult - same patterning/colors on its face but a lot of blue - almost the whole face, plus the striping the original pic of this one had. I've had him for about 3 years...50 gallon is too small IMO - I think 125+, but I could be wrong. I certainly wouldn't put mine in a small tank - sometimes I feel like his 165 is too small for him - he whips around with so much speed, and force. A definite favorite of mine!
