That's a great idea... I've got another huge 300w non-submersable heater that the thermostat is a total POS on... bet franksteining the good thermostat and good heating element would work like a charm for the grow out tank. The dead ones are in a box under one of my workbenches... I'm a horrible packrat, never throw ANYTHNG away, always got a use for the junk later.

I was planning on using one of them to control the block heater for my deisel truck this winter. Might just get my $10 a piece from them yet :D
Every electronic device is manufactured with smoke stored deep inside... only a true genius can find a way to set it free.

Yep always a use for such things. I just cut the end of the cord to a visitherm and connected the cords to gather so if the thermostat gets stuck the other one will
    take over no over heating
I HAVE A PROBLEM' I'M ADDICTED TO MICROMUSSA

After getting rid of my glass tube heater I replaced it with a WON Titanium unit- have had no probs and I think it was only about $30.00 for it.
The days are long and the work is difficult but every night I sleep as a man who has achieved his goals.
