#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Okay, I'm at about 550 gph between the two Rio 400's and the Skilter 250. My next questions is this, is there a wrong way to set them up. I have both of them aimed at each other from one side. My only problem is the pumps extend out over some rocks so I won't know how much flow is right under them until I see some life moving in that specific area. For the most part I think I'm getting a good flow throughout the rest of the tank except for that dead spot.So bottom line, the left side is worrying me.Here are some pics of the set up I got and hopefully what will be the final product. If you guys recommend me rearranging anything let me know.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG style="WIDTH: 389px; HEIGHT: 255px" height=226 alt="image file name: 2kefb4bd2c0e.jpg" src="http://www.captivereefing.com/richedit/upload/2kefb4bd2c0e.jpg" width=366 border=0#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG style="WIDTH: 241px; HEIGHT: 318px" height=468 alt="image file name: 2k9eca716e8a.jpg" src="http://www.captivereefing.com/richedit/upload/2k9eca716e8a.jpg" width=324 border=0#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Here are the pumps, they extend a few inches over two rocks. #ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG style="WIDTH: 304px; HEIGHT: 213px" height=249 alt="image file name: 2k9e014946f6.jpg" src="http://www.captivereefing.com/richedit/upload/2k9e014946f6.jpg" width=302 border=0#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Hopefully the final product as far as set up.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#IMG alt="image file name: 2kbf7bd728a3.jpg" src="http://www.captivereefing.com/richedit/upload/2kbf7bd728a3.jpg" border=0#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Best Regards,#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Clem#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
#ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Oh yea, do you guys think about 1 1/2 inches of sand is enough cause that's what it looks to be like in my tank.#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl##ed_op#DIV#ed_cl#Clem#ed_op#/DIV#ed_cl#
The sand bed can remain as deep or shallow as you like... the diff(for proper denitrification) can be made up in additional live rock. For a set up such as yours, I recommend 2#'s per gallon(live rock) or another 3" of fine sand. As far as movement... IMO, move 10-20x's total volume per hour with erratic, chaotic currents... in other words, face those PH towards a central focal point(such as the front middle of the tank) at opposite ends of the tank(try not to cause too much movement on the sand bed... a bit is good). I am assuming that everything as far as equipement is shown and there is no additional refugium or sump.
There's nowhere else I'ld rather be... unless, of course, you're buying
