Unhappy Nature can be a tough one!

I came home tonight to find my hermit crabs feasting on my tiny little scissor tail goby. I don't know if he died and they got him, or if they got him and he died. I am bummed though, that was the one I felt I had "saved" from the LFS. That is probably the last time I will buy a fish that is that small. He was just a BABY (about 1.5"). Cute little bugger, I hated to see the hermits eating him, so I got him out and flushed him. Anyways, just thought I would share a sad story.
...I think my fish just farted.

Sorry to hear of the loss. I am guessing that hermits were not the cause of the death but just there to clean it up. It always kind of amazes me, how fast they do "clean up" a mess like that.

I was at the LFS by my house a couple months back and there was a dead clown in the tank and I had to look for about 10 seconds to figure out what it was because it was completely covered in hermits.

Tyler, that's such a bummer. Those hermits are really something... I watched them devour one of their own who wasn't actually yet dead (but something was wrong with him). Needless to say, he went quickly once they got hold of him.

sorry for your loss hun.in most cases the crabs are not the killers mainly the clean up crew. one of the biggest reason when a fish goes mia its never to be seen again

Hermits got another feast this morning. My Femal Lyertail Antheias died over night. I am getting a little worried about my fish...I hope the two deaths weren't linked. I noticed the anthias had been acting weird. Laying on the rocks all day for 2 days when normally she was pretty active during the day.

I'm really sorry to hear that- I remember how excited you were when you got her. I hope everything settles down soon...
