Tang not eating

Hi all, got a few new fish on the 15th, an flagfin angel-majestic angel and a powder brown tang
i know these angels are difficult from what I read but there doing fine, in fact I watched them at the local fish store for about a month and there very hardy, no problem there
The powder brown tank though is not eating yet, there's no aggression in my tank, all get along well, in fact there were all in the same tank at the store
Ive tried pellets-algae-lettuce-myses , not really interested
no stress or any problem, just seems to be more interested in
checking the rock and the hiding holes then eating, he does come out and swim with the majestic who is his buddy but have not seen him eat yet

adding a bit of garlic to the food may help stimulate the tang's appetite.

i BOUGHT SOME FROM THE FISH STORE, HAVE BEEN PUTTING IT DIRECTLY IN THE TANK PER THE BOTTLE

Stop putting the garlic in the tank and soak some frozen food in it instead.
Works for me every time.
You could also try some sheet algae on a clip.

You stated in your original post that he pick off the live rock. You'd be quite surprised at how much food settled on those rocks, and tangs are great for cleaning off the algae and leftovers on the rocks! He may also be search between the rocks at night and finding quite a splendid diet from food that floats down between the rocks as well. I use their tummy's as a gauge. Does he look healthy, or is he looking boney and thin? If his tummy is plump, you have nothing to worry about. The other thing to consider is that you've had him this long now, and he's still swimming, so he's getting his nourishment from somewhere. Just keep feeding your tank normally, and I agree with Limpit....give them a cube of brine shrimp now and them as a treat. I give brine shrimp once a week, melt it in a bowl with some tank water and then I target feed the areas of the tank that I know will benefit from eating brinde shrimp. The fish love it, so it's their treat too! Good luck with you tang, but I'm willing to be he'll be just fine!

i used kent garlic extreme to induce feeding and ich control after i got my purple tang, it worked wonders.
