    I like the flood lamps, they use little energy, the reflector is built in, salt spray is easily cleansed off, salf ballasted, and most of all... they are harder to break!

    so just plain ol flood lights like you would use outside? sure beats the **** out of the 2 freshwater aquarium lights im using now. any specific brand or wattage etc? i think its a 25-30 gall fuge. this would give me more room also so let me get an answer on this one. may go out tomorrow and pick some up.

    Just be sure they are power compact floods and not halogen or incandescent, they'll radiate a lot of heat.... other than that, I'd suggest getting the highest kelvin you can find. I've run all different color temps from 2900K to 6500K and haven't seen much difference in macro growth. Those labeled as 'daylight' will generally be close to 4-5000K.
