I'm sorry Sweatpea! You are doing a fine job caring for your tank and all your other animals. I didn't realize your tank was only 10G either. My mistake for not looking closer to that. I'm also happy that your husband found him and took care of that part for you. They really stink badly once they die, and even before quite a bit.
Don't give up. I know you'd rather wait. I see you upgrading your tank and becoming an absolute addict like the rest of us. You will have a beautiful anemone one day, and everything will be fine. We have to learn all this stuff the hard way. I'm the type of person that feels so bad I cry when I lose one of my reef friends. My daughter's basslet died today. Overnight, he developed one big black spot on his side. He was fine prior to that, and just like that he's gone. Gabrielle took it well, and now she's just got her two clowns in her 10G. That tank has been a bigger challange for me than the big 180G. You take care Sweatpea! I am sorry you lost your nem. You should try adding a leather which I may be able to help you with. When it polyps out, our perc loves to lay in it like a big bed. Let me know if you're interested! ...

I'm really sorry to hear about your dd's basslet...

It's funny you should say that - I was looking at a yellow fiji leather online last night. I've heard people mention clowns hosting some soft corals and that they're a bit easier to care for. Sure I'm interested!

Thank you so much for your kindness & support!

    Hugs,
    Tracy

Wow! I just read through this post again... I can't believe it's been over two years!!!

I did give in and get another nem - a much bigger one. After tons of research and reading about other's experiences, I know now that the LTA was simply too small, and Marlin "loved" it to death. The bigger one I got (a BTA) did great. I had the excitement of seeing it spawn and then split. Both were doing well, but as time went on and the xenia took over, I ended up trading in the rocks to LFSs. Marlin is now anemone free.

I plan to move him from the 10g to the 20g sometime in the near future and buy him a nice big anemone to call home. Right now the 20g is a frag holding tank. I need to get some nice tennis ball sized rocks to mount my frags on and move them to the 90g. Then Marlin can make his big move!
