Default Todays Additions to the reef....

Picked up these guys today to boost the cleanup crew and chase down bubble algae & aptaisa. All 4 for $20 at a LFS.

    What do you all think?

    Thanks Greg.

I'm a little concerned with the Emerald already....little batturd has an appitite for Coraline and is picking it all off my LR!

No zoas in my tank. Just softies (Shrooms, Xenia, Frogspawn, Kenya trees and a Colt Coral.

The peppermints (Total of 3 now) are there to get aptasia I hope and the emerald to get bubble algae I hope. He has yet to remove himself from the rock covered in purple coraline and find the bubbles yet though.

The Brittle was kind of an impulse buy but I did research them before and knew he was reef safe.

No need to fret over the coraline, actually exposing the pores on the LR is a good thing as it will provide additional surface for more beneficial bateria to grow. Not to mention the coralone will grow back.

Looks like you got a good deal... Keep an eye on the brittle star if you have any small fish.... as they grow larger they've been known to prey on them, originally only the green brittles were though to exhibit the 'arch behavior' but recent reports of the brown/black ones doing the same thing on occassion.

BTW you can't always trust the 'number of views' counts, search engines hit the board dozens of times a day and they bump the thread view counts just as a member would, particularly the most recent 100 threads/posts.

Looks good! I had read a post on the site about Copper Band Butterfly controlling Aptaisa. When the LFS got some in I bought one. It is incredible the amount that fish has consumed so far. I also added a Emerald Crab to fight a small problem with bubble and the Emerald has started to clean it up.

I have also been told a Copperband will do it. Just not adding any "fish" to the reef until I am 100% certain that the ICH that killed our Coral Beauty Angel has died off. (Maybe another week to be sure),

And yes, That is Red Slime Algae in the picture. Have to tackle that next.

So, Here is TODAY's reef addition (01/13/2006)

    Comments anyone?
