    Just for information for others, I came across this on Reefcleaners.org:

    I have diatoms in my newest tank, its been running for about 35 days now, and I use RO water. but they only really seem to show on the new white sand, not much on the live rock. Friday I am buying a diverse clean up crew, we will see what happens.
