LOL - I'm so sorry Erika, I see now how my response might have been a bit "unilluminating". I assure you it was not unintentional

To make amends, I'll disclose another supplier for this build that will undoubtedly paint a precise picture as to the nature of the design...

Today I took delivery of a shipment from K&J Magnetics.

There, now I'm sure you've got it

Hopefully your mind doesn't play as good of tricks on you as mine does on me

I'll be a bit delayed in getting some of the needed components - most importantly the tank itself. Apparently these MA 12 long tanks are sold out everywhere with no stock expected prior to the end of the month. I managed to get some help from Geoff at 7Ports (the US distributor for MA.) Geoff helped me track down 2 of these tanks - apparently just about the last 2 left Stateside. The West coast retailer that has them doesn't normally ship, so they don't have the needed shipping containers. Geoff was kind enough to ship the retailer the proper container - and did so at no cost. Hopefully I'll have "glass" in a week or so.

On the fabrication end, I'm going through the acrylic learning curve. Just as well the tank has been delayed, as it's taking me longer than anticipated to complete the design and fabrication of the acrylic components. I'm also still waiting on a TAPP plastics shipment.

On a good note, the stocking plan for this tank is very simple and I already have much of the livestock on hand. I'm going to get a cycle started on the Fluval 406 and the bio-media using an existing tank, hoping to shorten the time needed to cycle the new tank.

Sounds like you have a lot planned.
Looking forward to this build.

Thanks AJ!

It's strange, looking this concept and design on paper and in Sketchup ...it seems very simple. Come time to start fitting acrylic, it suddenly becomes complex. I suspect it has more to do with my skill level (or lack thereof) than the complexity of the design.

Hahaha I just saw this... I think things are only getting more confusing now! Can't wait to see what is coming!

Well, you have to start somewhere. Few things teach better than experience.
Probably after a few parts it will come together easier.

Work on the design continues while I wait for the tanks to be delivered. I was able to finalize the feature inhabitants....A beautiful pair of Ta'ls Picassos....err Talcassos

The larger two in the photo will be taking up residence on my desk.

They will likely have this tank all to their own - and if all goes well, a comfy RBTA to call home.

Sir Patrick likes this.

The piecing together of acrylic has gotten me perplexed.......I have no idea what plans you might have!
