We had more preparation into the swap this year than any other year. I'd especially like to thank Jolson10450 for helping us with the layout on CADD. Although we still had last minute adjustments due to the unforeseen leaky roof, I think the layout flowed much better than previous years and setup was fairly straightforward.

I am starting the search now for other potential halls since we have maxed the Eagles Hall out.

My wife and I have been coming for a while and we both thought there were less vendors, less stuff, and not as good of deals. I didn't buy a thing except what I already had preordered. Thanks jay! It was fun as always. Some moments were more exciting than others.....lol

There were actually more vendors at this one than the previous year because i did the layout to include more (i think 6 more total) i can't speak for the less stuff and not as good of deal parts as this was my first Lansing swap. i got some fantastic deals for sure but there was some pricey stuff.

Another thing is did you have a table at the previous ones? i found that when i had the table at the A2 swap i was unable to make it around to all of the tables and chat with the other vendors about coral and prices and such so maybe that effected your experience. i enjoyed this one more than the A2 because i was able to get around and talk with everyone rather than being stuck at a table the whole time.

i really liked that people were allowed in the night prior to set up, it seemed like more was opened up and happy in the tanks this year. most all of the larger scale conferences i've been to do this and it makes for better "eye appeal" during the swap.

i agree with the thought that we may have out grown the current venue, even with layout improvements (which were great, btw!) we were busting at the seams when the door opened!

I gota say Thanks to Mid-Michigan Marine Club and Captive Reefs for a cool Swap, I was like the 6th person in line, and my First swap. Very nice stuff, a few more rare things I was looking for I did not find, but I also did hear a guy say most the high end stuff was gone before we even got in the door

I Thank sdavis43 for The Zoas we have been looking for ! That was cool

Me and a buddy are thinking Table next year, just to make room in our tanks we might break down and even get a saw, I now have 45 different species of coral, and josh is up 85 different species of coral.

Thanks to all, and see ya next year!

While I'm glad you had fun at the previous swaps. The facts just don't support your statement that this one wasn't as big or had less stuff. We had 39 vendors last year, and 44 this year. Many of the vendors that were there, purchased additional spaces (thus bringing more product to sell) than they had the previous years because the layout was better. Dirk had even more space this year and brought with him an entire LFS worth of drygoods. Last year we had space for 48 tables and this year there were 56.

Further, we had additional vendors not officially on the table layout, including ReefBrite, UVL, Tropicorium (brought in by Dick Perrin himself!), and MichiganReefers. Bringing the final vendor total up to 48...9 more than last year. About a 25% increase over the previous year!

this was by far the best swap ive ever been to and ive been going to these things for years. i showed up late and was scrambling to set up, but got it done before noon and it was a blast. So many people, i like the idea of having the place busting at the seems. Id hate to go bigger the place seem empty.

Hey way to go. Im not bashing it by any means. And to be honest I will never miss the lansing swap. One of my favorites. But facts aside that's just how it seemed from my perspective this year. Just my opinion. And justin I didn't have to stay by my table. I wasn't the only one there at my table. So I walked around alot. I did see alot of the nice stuff get sold before the door opened. Just my wife and I agreed a lot of the tanks looked a little barer than last year. I personally would like to see more hobbyiest sales.

I hope u guys get a bigger space. The more the merrier. Ill be getting a table next year as I will have even more stuff to sell.

I agree with you. I'd rather have it busting at the seams than feel empty. I'm not 100% sure if we will move it or not, it really depends on what other facilities I can find. It may get to the point where I can just fill the tables up a month or two ahead of time and not have to work as hard the week before with the layout stuff.
